Amends

We use to talk, joke, and laugh almost every day.

Then you took all that and just threw it all away.

One day it all went to hell and just left there to die.

If I said it didn’t hurt, you’d know I’d be telling a lie.

Sure my words may have seemed a bit over the top.

But my heart was pure, whether you believe it or not.

And I admit it angered me to feel disrespected by you.

But time’s gone on long enough; forgiveness is past due.

For even at the start of this silence, I accepted your request.

I fail to see how what we’ve become is the end’s very best.

So I wrote this poem to see if you’d like to make amends.

A yes or no is all I need to see if we can be cool once again.
