The Inevitable Moment Pt. 1

Hey there. How are you doing today? She asks.

Pretty good actually. How about you? He responds.

Excited! She says enthusiastically.

I can see that. What’s going on? He asks.

I got the job! The one I told you about. She says.

The one here? He asks.

No. The other one. She says.

You did? Congratulations! You deserve it. He says.

He hugs her, realizing this is going to change everything. Still though, he’s ecstatic for her.

Thank you, that’s so sweet. She says.

You’re very welcomed and I mean it. You’re such a sweetheart, I can’t think of anyone more deserving to get their dream job.

Thank you. I’m going to miss all of you though. She admits. But still, I can’t believe it. This is as good as it gets. I’ll finally get the experience to pursue my career. She adds.

Well, when do you start? He asks. All the while hoping he has enough time to express his true feelings for her.

Monday. She says.

Which means I won’t be able to give my notice here which I kind of wanted to do, but it is what it is. She adds.

He realizes now that this is suddenly his last chance to tell her how he feels since they won’t be working together again before she starts the new job.

Hey, listen, I have to tell you something, but I don’t want any interruptions, so before you head out, come see me please? He requests.

What is it? She asks.

He looks into her eyes knowing that things won’t end the way he’d hope for.

Trust me, it’ll be better to talk later when we’ll have time. He says with a gut-wrenching feeling kicking inside of him.
